The Uzbek American Association of Chicago (UAAC) will participate in the 2025 Skokie Festival of Cultures on May 17 and 18, joining 29 other cultural groups in a celebration of diversity and community.

Held annually since 1991, the two-day festival draws more than 25,000 visitors to Oakton Park, a 19-acre site in Skokie, Illinois. Festivities begin Saturday with an opening ceremony and continue with live music, global dance performances, a children's activity area and cultural exhibitions. The event concludes Sunday with a joyful Festival of Colors.

UAAC, founded in 2009, works to support and integrate Uzbek families in the Chicago area while sharing their cultural heritage with surrounding communities. The organization first began participating in the Skokie Festival in 2021 and now returns for its fourth consecutive year joined by more than 30 volunteers.

This year’s presentation will include traditional Uzbek clothing, handcrafted displays and live performances from the Arezoo Dance & Design Studio. “It’s more than just a booth,” said a UAAC board member. “It’s a space for our children to see themselves reflected—and for others to discover who we are.”

Visitors are invited to experience the spirit of Uzbekistan through dance, costume and conversation. For more information, call 708-415-1743.
